Book Review
Book review is one of my favorite things. Coco le Chat is featured in her very own illustrated children’s book! Coco is the height of feline fashion, a Cornish Rex dressed to the nines, visiting New York City, looking for friendship. Aren’t we all? Looking for friendship, that is.
The story of Coco le Chat (the cat) is sweet and fun, appealing to the fashionista in every little girl, as well as to cat lovers.
Teri Thorsteinson, Coco’s mama in real life, sent a copy of this book for our cancer fundraiser. My mother won the book and let me read it. Eventually it will be a gift for a young grandchild or niece. Teri blogs about Coco and her cat friends at Curlz and Swirlz, where Cornish Rex cats are all the rage, as well as a Sphynx cat. Each of these felines is a handsome beast, and each is dressed in haute couture. Of course.
The basis of The Adventures of Coco le Chat, the world’s most fashionable feline (yes, this is an Amazon link to the book – no, it is not an affiliate link, merely a link), is that Coco heads to New York City to stay and shop and be noticed. Coco loves the life of a feline fashionista, but it’s a lonely existence without a friend, so she looks for a feline friend to train in the ways of the fashion world. The story line truly is sweet, and it’s told in rhyme.
And the illustrations! The book uses one of my favorite recent illustration formats, combining actual photos with drawings. Each of the pictures of Coco is a photo of the actual cat, dressed in real clothing, looking stunning, as usual. The rest is illustration. It’s beautifully done, as you can clearly see.
Teri does an amazing job dressing her cats. Isn’t Coco lovely? I’m imagining a young girl poring over the illustrations, enamored of Coco and her adventures in the City.
Giveaway
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s book review. The Adventures of Coco le Chat would make a beautiful gift for a young girl in love with pretty clothes and jewelry. I also imagine that it would be a fantastic graduation gift for a teen heading to college for anything having to do with the fashion industry. Or even for someone currently working in the fashion industry. Or for a cat lover. So many people would enjoy this book, from reading it aloud to children, to a coffee table book for your favorite cat person.
Lucky you! Teri has agreed to give this gorgeous book to one lucky person! I told you we’d be hosting a unique giveaway, yes? So sign up via Rafflecopter. You’re going to love this book.
