Catching Up

On Thursdays, Heart Like a Dog and 2 Brown Dawgs host a fun Bits and Bytes blog hop. It’s designed for playing catch up. I need some catching up, here. So many random bits the last week or so that I’ve wanted to share, but don’t make a cohesive whole.

Clean Knuckle bone — It’s that Bare Knuckle bone from Jones again. I took nearly a thousand photos of pretty Miss Delilah and somehow missed this bone when posting.

Anatolian mix with a Clean Knuckle bone from Jones — I absolutely adore this face. Delilah took the Bare Knuckle and wandered off to gnaw on it. Isn’t she a pretty girl?

I love taking photos of dogs. I hate searching through them for the shots I want to use. Sometimes I take nearly a thousand photos. Dogs move, y’all. So 900 of them will be worthless, most days.

Chicken in the garden — Same is true with chickens. They move. I took a lot of photos to get this fun shot of Mary Ann jumping into the garden. Then I ran and yelled to get her out of the garden.

That’s another thing. I haven’t had my coffee today.

What do you mean we're out of coffee?! — What?! Wait. I haven’t checked yet this morning, but I’m pretty sure there’s coffee.

Seriously. I haven’t had my coffee yet. The things I do for y’all …

Japanese buff bantam — Remember that little Brussels Griffon I visited? I took chicks to his house for his mom’s photo shoot. This is one of my favorite photos from the shoot, even though I wasn’t the one shooting. Jemima has grown into a lovely little bantam, but she’s a bit wet at the moment, so no current photo.

Chicken wants to eat my lunch! — Legolas is my piggiest hen. She loves anything I eat. This was a tuna sandwich on gluten free bread. She loved it. We were discussing the merits of my letting her eat my lunch.

Brussels mix about to eat dad's lunch — Gadget also likes it when we sit on the porch to eat lunch. He’ll jump into my lap, then onto the table.

So there ya have it. I’ve nearly caught y’all up. Oo! Except for the aquaponics! Hunny has been working hard to set up an aquaponic system.

Backyard aquaponics — That boxed in thing on the left is the IBC fish tank. Hunny insulated, then fenced it. The tables directly ahead are the grow beds. They’re filled with pebbles and have bell siphons in the center. There are two swirl filters in the form of 55 gallon drums. A pump and timer move water up and down in the grow beds.
