I panicked this morning. There are no more letters in the alphabet or days in the month. It’s May! So instead of an alphabet challenge, someone suggested I write about numbers. So! How many ingredients are in YOUR favorite dog treat?

I’m just going to run down a handful of our favorite Jones Natural Chews treats, from bones to taffies to other things, see how many ingredients there are. Let’s begin with a couple of different types of bones.

The Slammer Bone is for medium to large dogs. It’s a bone with meaty bits still clinging to it. That’s it. A bone and meat. Slow baked to perfection, for mouth watering goodness that dogs can’t ignore. It’s considered a single ingredient treat.

The Bully Bone also has meaty bits clinging to it, with a Bully Stick wrapped through this four inch Center Bone. Mmmmm. Hard to resist the meaty bits AND the Bully Stick. This bone is a two ingredient treat. One more bone –

Bandit’s Bone is a four inch Center Bone, filled with beef. Dogs go crazy getting the meat out of the middle. Here’s a run down of the beef middle ingredients:
- Beef
- Molasses
- Natural Mixed Tocopherols
- Rosemary extract
That’s it. It’s a five ingredient treat, including the beef bone. All natural, 100% sourced and produced in the USA. What a lovely thing. Let’s take a look at some single and two ingredient non-bone treats.

That’s it. Just a Beef Ligament, baked. Nothing else. I imagine dogs would go nuts for this. We haven’t tried them yet. But it’s a single ingredient beef treat!

Lamb Lung Puffs are another single ingredient treat. Baked puffs of lamb lung, they’re like candy for your dog. Again, like all Jones treats, they’re all natural and completely grown and made in the USA. There’s no turning back once your dog has had a Lamb Lung Puff. Try them and see.

OMD – as amazing as the Lamb Lung Puff is, the Pig Ear is to die for where dogs are concerned. This single ingredient treat is for special occasions and will have your dog begging for more.

Chicken treats from Jones have, I think, the most of any ingredients when it comes to their treats. My girls love the Chicken Taffy and were fighting over it. The ingredient list for the taffy is as follows:
- Chicken
- Rye flour
- Glycerin
- Salt
- Liquid smoke flavoring
- Natural mixed tocopherols
- Rosemary extract
Seven ingredients. That’s it. And they’re all natural. Oh, by the way, rye flour is the only grain you’ll ever see in a Jones Natural Chew, and that usually just found in the taffies. I think. Hmm.
Jones has a couple of unusual ingredient treats, like the Venison Sausage and Rabbit Jerky. Or Wabbit Jerky, as I’m required to call it when Emma is nearby. 😉
Thanks for hanging out today! I hope you learned a wee bit. And I hope you grab your dog’s treat box and read it. Are they made in the USA? Are they all natural? How many ingredients are in the treats? Can you pronounce them all? If you answer no to any of the questions, and more than ten to the ingredient question, maybe it’s time to try Jones. I think you’ll be surprised. And you’ll probably kick yourself for not having done it sooner. Take a look at Natural Dog Treat Shop if you can’t find them locally.
Until I write again …
