Today on our blog, Laura Jones shares fond memories of working alongside her father and the legacy he left at Jones Natural Chews.
Owning a business and involving all of the children in the company was part of our parents’ vision whey they got married in 1961. By 1970, Dad opened the packing company that is the foundation of our company, and by 1988 three of his children – myself included – had joined the family business.
Tenacious is a fitting word for Dad. He never gave up or even faltered throughout the ups and downs of owning a business. He not only wanted his children to be part of the business, but he also instilled a strong work ethic and served as an example of how to run a business with integrity and transparency. It is not always easy to work with family, but he led the team with focus and created strong teamwork within the company and family.
Dad always maintained a positive attitude that kept the company morale strong. He was known to walk through the building singing loudly and bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. The credit for the success of the company falls solidly on his shoulders.
I have spent nearly 30 years with our family business, building on the foundation that Dad laid to become one of the leading national producers of natural chews and treats. As Chief Operating Officer of our parent company, Jones Naturals, LLC, I happily oversee all aspects of the business, including managing the Jones Natural Chews brand alongside our current President, Joe Wallington.
To say that I am thankful for my dad’s leadership and vision does not come close to expressing my gratitude. He taught us to meet every challenge of new business situations and company growth with confidence and determination. He taught us to constantly “step outside of our box” and leave our comfort zones to meet the next business challenge with success.
There is no limit to his vision for the Jones family business. My only hope is that we continue to honor my father’s commitment to his family and to yours by providing the highest quality natural dog treats and chews for your beloved pets.
We are blessed with a wonderful dad, leader, and mentor.
