*BEFORE WE BEGIN, HAVE YOU ENTERED YESTERDAY’S GIVEAWAY? DO THAT NOW!*
Yes, today I am playing catch up. Hunny is nearly over the flu, but my youngest is running a 102.5 temp and is comatose on the couch. I’m thinking this mama probably won’t escape the flu this year. It’s been 13 years since I’ve had it, so … catching up a little today, in case y’all don’t hear from me for awhile. This strain of flu is not pretty, people. You may want to cover your nose and mouth while you read, in case I’m contagious. Then wash your hands when you’re done reading.
First, I received a box of bones in the mail this morning. It’s for photographing with different sizes of dogs in my area (friends’ dogs). I may not get to that this week, since I don’t want to be spreading flu germs. Fleas are germ carriers, you know. The package arrived while my dogs were in the middle of their morning grooming session.
They do this licking thing all day long. It sounds really gross. The vet says they have some of the cleanest ears he’s ever seen. Yes, they lick each other’s ears. And eyes. Ew.
And then the box arrived. Patches, my alpha female, was all about the box, sniffing and demanding to know what was in it. Until I pulled out the camera phone.
Sure, she’s innocent. Uh huh.
I’m not buying it for a minute. No, she doesn’t get a treat. She just finished barking at the UPS guy non-stop. Maybe I’ll treat her later if she comes into the house when I call.
Speaking of which, I want to thank you all for your good advice. I realized, reading through and responding to so many of you, that I am definitely to blame for Patches’ two year old behavior. When I step outside, make eye contact, tell her to get her little doggie butt in the house, she comes. Rather, she slinks. But if I don’t look her in the eye? She ignores me. Exactly like raising toddlers. Look them in the eye. Make them acknowledge what you’ve said. I’m a lazy mom! So, thanks everyone for helping me come to that painful realization.
What else? I’ll be blogging from a dog trade show in late February. Jones Chews has asked me to come with them so I can LEARN. I love learning. And it’s in Orlando, so how on earth could I say no? Hmm … I’ll be playing catch up with friends there (we lived in Orlando for eleven years), but I’m wondering if I can meet with Christy of Life with Beagle, or with Gizmo’s mom? We’ll see …
And that’s it for now. Hoping my dogs don’t catch the flu. I need to feed a starving Hunny and get ice chips and juice to a feverish boy. I wonder if he can still do his school work …
Until I write again …
