Prison Dogs, FBM 129

June 29, 2015

Happy Funny Bone Monday! My mama tagged me in a FaceCrack post about prison dogs this weekend and I thought of y’all. It’s a way cool program in which local pound dogs are paired up with prisoners as a means of rehabilitating and giving purpose to both populations. Check it out. But, um, you might want to grab the tissues before you click play.

How cool is that? Are all prisons doing this with dogs? They should be, right? I’m loving it! Here’s another.

Isn’t this amazing? I’m sure half of y’all have heard of this, but I hadn’t. It should seriously be a part of prisons all over the world. Prison, dogs, Jones Natural Chews. I love, love, love this next video.

My mom takes her little Shih Tzu, Honey, to a groomer, Muddy Paws, which gives a discount to rescue dogs. Their program helps teach a trade to newly released inmates, training women to groom dogs, so it’s not terribly expensive. I’m not gonna lie – Honey doesn’t always look like a show dog when they’re done. But she’s always clean and fresh. How many of our cities offer that kind of service, inmates learning the grooming trade? Does yours? I’m just curious.

The Sentinel
One of my mama’s sketches of Miss Honey. Mom told Honey’s story on her blog last week. I’d never seen her prior to her original grooming, so seeing Honey straight from the city pound was … different. She was definitely a prison dog.

And because this really is Funny Bone Monday, I’mma give y’all a cute one to watch with prison dogs.

Now y’all go have a great week! Stop at your local pet or feed store on the way home this evening and pick up some Jones Natural Chews for your dog. It’ll make ’em smile. Naturally.

Until I write again …
